Released in 1959, the original Omega Speedmaster CK2998 is one of the most sought-after vintage model among Speedmasters fans.
Some of its distinctive elements are the Alpha hands, a symmetrical case with straight lugs and dark bezel.
At Baselworld 2016, Omega men’s watch presented a limited edition which is directly inspired to that model.
While respecting the design code of the original, the Speedmaster CK2998 Limited Edition swiss sports watch its own character thanks to the extended use of the blue colour for the three subdials, the minutes track and the polished ceramic bezel with a tachymeter base scale treated with Super-LumiNova. Blue is also the leather strap (19 mm between lugs, 16 mm on buckle) with beige stitching.
The silver opaline dial is protected by a box-form scratch-resistant sapphire crystal with anti-reflective treatment inside and framed by a stainless steel case with a diameter of 39.70 mm and a total thickness of 14.37 mm. Water resistance is 50 metres / 167 feet.
Rhodium-plated Alpha hands are used for the hours and minutes, as well as on the subdials while a lollipop hand is used for the central chronograph seconds.
The screw-in caseback displays an embossed Seahorse medallion together with the individual number of each of the 2,998 pieces that will be produced.
